Bubbles in Barcelona

Bubbles in Barcelona

I remember walking through Barcelona on the first day.

Full of art all around,

On the streets, on the walls, and above the ground.

Gaudi’s buildings infected the city.

His style was one you could not miss.

But this was not the only art,

Because the bubbles filled an abyss.

In the narrow and dark ally,

The Gothic Quarter winds like a maze.

Street performers appear in the cracks of the light,

There to have people amazed.

As they dipped their sticks in the soapy suds,

And rose the ropes into giant bubble,

Everything looked as if it were in slow motion.

The bubbles filled the smiles.

The people all around,

Of different ages and cultures,

Found peace in the flow of the bubbles.

Cristal clear and iridescent,

Floating through the breeze with reflections of the people and the plaza.

With happiness on their faces, ages 5 to 72,

The world around them disappears.

The bubbles pop but the happiness does not,

It is simply regained with each new bubble.

The bubbles in Barcelona filled the people with joy.

They reinstated my love for the city and the country of Spain.

Such a simple act and art brought people together,

And joy to generations.

The act itself brings peace,

But the performers are to thank,

For they are the ones that filled the abyss.
